ELIZABETH FRANKEL
I have been riding horses since I was 12 years old and have always loved animals. I express my love for horses and dogs by capturing their physical features and unique personalities with color. Working from photographs that I take, I then transfer the animals' likeness and spirit to paper using mostly watercolors.
Having majored in Communications at the University of Pennsylvania, I went onto produce low budget horror films in New York City. It did not take long for me to realize that this was not meant for me. After having two children, I ventured back to 2 passions that I had let go.The first being art and the second was my love for animals, horses in particular. I took art classes at many local art centers as well as the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. I also got back in the saddle again, after a 15 year hiatus. It was then that I began putting my two favorite passions together and started creating images from the horse world that reflect my view of a life so few understand.
I have had the privelege to paint such wonderful horses as: Royal Kaliber, Rafiki, Gera 28, Tuscany, Dream Date, Indian Summer, Newsworthy (which I might add is hanging in Bruce Springsteens house.), and many more beautiful horses. I also enjoy painting dogs, cats, seascapes and landscapes. I am beginning to play with oils so please browse thru the gallery to check out some of these paintings as well.
